Information Regarding Baptism & Chrismation

In the Chaldean Rite, infants are baptized and confirmed together, as the first two of three sacraments of initiation. In baptism, the child is taken up into the life of Christ and is renewed, going down into the waters and dying with Christ, and coming up out of them, rising with him into new life. The child is welcomed into the Body of Christ and is given the Spirit of God to share in the Lord's life. Chrism, the rite of anointing and setting the child apart as one chosen by God, strengthens the faith of the child and gives him the capacity to carry on Jesus' mission of declaring the kingdom of God. In the sacrament of chrism, the child is anointed, and becomes, like Jesus, an "anointed one," which is the meaning of the word "Christ."

Godparent Requirements

Be Catholic.
Have received all three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Chrism, Eucharist).
Be in good standing with the Catholic Church.
Faithfully practice his/her faith actively.
If married, must be married in the Catholic Church.
They cannot be members of the child's immediate family.

General Information Before Baptism

Baptisms/Chrismations are only held on Saturdays at 1:00 P.M. and Sundays at 1:00 P.M. after the Chaldean Mass. If you would like to request another day, please contact the Pastor.
Parents will be required to schedule a Baptism Preparation Meeting with the Priest to discuss what is baptism, their role and their responsibility in this sacrament, and to ask any questions they have. To schedule this meeting, please click here.
If you need a baptismal ribbon (klyla), please obtain one from the church's office.
Your donation to the church would be appreciated. If you would like to make a personal donation to the priest, please feel free to give it to him in an envelope after the ceremony.
